The problem
A roof that should have been clean months ago
When Vanessa contacted Premier Clean about a roof clean at her Parrearra home, the job sounded straightforward. But when we arrived to quote, it was clear something had gone very wrong.
Vanessa told us that another company, a national franchise operation, had cleaned her roof just 16 weeks earlier. She had paid $750 for the service. From ground level, the roof was completely black with algae and mould. Not partly discoloured. Not showing a few patches. The franchise had applied a single chemical spray and told Vanessa it would clean itself up over the following two to three months. What we did
Turning a training afternoon into a same-week result
One more complication: Vanessa had an open home on Saturday. It was Wednesday. We had only two days to get the job done, and our schedule for the rest of the week was full.
We had set aside Friday afternoon for staff training. Instead of turning Vanessa away, we saw an opportunity. We proposed a deal: we would bring the whole Premier Clean team to Vanessa’s property on Friday afternoon, complete a proper roof clean, and use the job as a live training environment for the team. In exchange, we would charge half our normal rate, $400 instead of the usual $800 for a roof of that size.
Vanessa agreed. On Friday, the team arrived and got to work. We soft-washed the roof properly, a low-pressure application of professional-grade treatment that kills algae and mould at the root, not just on the surface. While we were there, we pressure-washed the side walkways and patio, and ran window-cleaning training on the property as well. The full job was completed in two hours.
The result
Open-home ready, the right way
Vanessa’s home went to its open home on Saturday in the best possible condition. The roof that had been black for at least sixteen weeks, and arguably longer, given the franchise’s work had made no visible difference, was clean, clear, and presentable from the street.
